Clapping Today is Rick Benej's birthday. A day all table hockey players should celebrate Confused . Why? Glad you asked.

This man, back in in the early 1980's, made a decision to fully commit to the sport of table hockey in the biggest way he possibly could: he decided to make custom built games of the highest quality for a sport that was on its last legs, all because he believed passionately in that sport and its players.

All the best players from the mid 1980s to right around the early 2000's played on the Benej games and participated in the Benej Tournament Circuit, the history of which is extremely rich and it has never gotten its due. The Classic benej game, with the straight slots, small puck and small net is in my opinion the best table hockey game ever built and is reason enough to laud this man who had the cohones to build it.

Is Rick Benej a perfect man? Nope. But with one exception Rolling Eyes , who is? Rick Benej is responsible for, through his hard work and relentless dedication to the sport of table hockey, bringing joy to thousands of people. No organizer or "promoter" of any of the lesser games can make that claim. This is what it is. He built the games that the best played on for an era (over a decade) in the history of table hockey.

I don't expect everyone on this board to understand this post, nor does it matter. All that matters is that the folks who do know a little about the sport of table hockey as well as those who have had the pleasure of playing on Rick's games during the "Golden Age of Benej" should share their benej memories with the rest of us and keep those memories alive. IF thats too much to ask, then so be it.

Happy Birthday Rick Benej Cheers Thanks for making it happen.

I hope one day that the caretakers Baby of the classic game will put aside whatever issues they have with other people and open up their tournaments and league dates to everyone. But then thats for another post. Wink

The man also deserves credit for this stroke of genius...he snatched up the web site "tablehockey.com."

Good call when you're marketing a table hockey game.
