Hello everyone.

Technology-willing, we'll be posting updates on the 2011 Coleco U.S. Open in this thread on Friday evening.

Likely to do it after the round robin(s) and during the playoffs.

Best of luck to everyone playing.

Good evening everyone. We're getting ready to start the tournament in a few minutes.

An opening round robin of 16 players and then the playoffs in two groups, best of 5 series.

Thank you to HTQ for sanctioning this tournament.

So far, we are without Sam Anoussis, arguably favored to win the event, given his high ranking in the Quebec circuit. Called the number he registered with and it went to his brother's voice mail.

So the event might be more wide open.

Stay tuned for some results after the round robin.

Thank you Erik and Jim for a well organized event!

The "Coleco U.S. Open" was held in anice hall, on beautiful & smooth boards, and it shows that you guys have a lot of experience.

Jim really takes care of his boards, and Erik ran the schedule in an orderly fashion. The only thing is that I prefer having referees and "stop time"; but on another hand, without a referee and with "running time", you play more games. I had lots of fun playing the Coleco board I love!

Furthermore I had a blast in Chicago all week long, going to see a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, taking a double-decker bus tour for 3 days in Chicago, taking a speed boat ride at Navy Pier, going up the Skydeck at Willis Tower, fine dining downtown, etc. I was impressed with the design of the city, the architeture of the buildings, the cleansiness of this huge modern city.
I had rented a car, and it was supposed to be a Ford Focus, but I got a Ford Mustang instead, Wow! Also I made new friends with Jim Rzonca, Erik Krol, Ron Marsik and everyone else was very nice to me. I had a great week, and to top it off, I won the "Coleco U.S Open" on Friday night and brought home a nice big trophy. The next day, I lost in the finals to Claire Rzonka, Jim's daughter, in the "C" pool. I almost made the "B" pool, but it's not bad for a guy that hasn't touched a Stiga board in over 4 years!

Thanks again guys for hosting this event, and I encourage anybody to come to that event next year in Lemont, Il, it's worth the trip!

BURT Brassard Cheers
