I have a SC Power Play game and I would like to know what year it was made. The trophy it has with it shows Boston 71-72 champs on it. I am not assuming yet this is the original one that came with it. The game has metal orange sides and black plastic ends. The overhang is also orange. Plastic players. Is this the 5170 model I have read about here? Please give me some insight if you can. Thanks for all responses in advance.

If you look on the bottom of the game, ie the metal edge part you shou be able to read a model number.

If you were unable to get a model number off the bottom edge, post some photos and we will ID it easily.

Duh!,do I feel stupid. I had the answer to my own question.Only checked it out briefly when I got it to make sure it was not damaged. The instructions were folded up with the team sticker sheets. This game is a model 5170. I'm thinking around 1974 as the box has the 2 kids playing and the Dad off to the side. My teams are Chicago and Philly both in darks. Is this the game that gets looked down upon from all the 5340 and 5380 players? I think the width is less. Please respond with your thoughts.

I don't want to speak for others, but the 70 is a very small game with little collector interest, in my opinion. Narrow, forward J defense slots, overhead not interesting. OK to mess around with but I wouldn't expect much collector buzz when there's full size games like the 5330/5340/5380 games around.

Patrick. You got a great game in the 5170. As stated it's not desired by collectors but if you want a game that plays fast and physical it's a blast. I have two, and play it as my home ice in my league, www.thlh.us .

PS. The tablehockey snobs look down their noses at it. That's why I like it so much. :cowboy
