Thanks for saying so, Couz!
we just got player #118....
The men's division is now closed. WOW
Any players now wanting to play will have to join the ladies division... haha
No, really, any players now wanting to join will only be able to do so by coming day of and hoping that another player does not arrive for some reason.
Never been in the situation before to turn people away - and really don't want to, but we just won't have enough games to makes pools any bigger.
Thanks to all for making this happen... looking forward to a historic day! |

The Canadian Championship just went into overflow mode with its 122nd participant just registered. People are now accepting to take "waiting spots", hoping that another player does not show up come face-off time!
122 people playing table hockey together ... sounds pretty cool!
Imagine the clickety-clack of flat plastic players spanking pucks around... amplified by 122!
and a lot of smiling faces (... and a little bit of cursing) |

Here is the big piece of news just in... Our final player to register for the Canadian Table Hockey Championships...coming out of retirement for the big show... the legend, the man who introduced me to table hockey tourneys.. Mr. Mike Pope. Straight from the Vatican, the Pope just brought a whole new dimension to this twisted affair! He is a sharp player and is sure to bring an upset to some young table hockey upstart, as he is a grizzled old veteran of the table hockey wars!!!
My bet is that, even without a lick of practice, he leaves someone with a bruised ego!
Welcome aboard, Mike Pope!!! |

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck on the boards and a safe journey coming and going.
A huge congratulations to the organizers. I do have a great appreciation for their efforts and dedication. Thank you.
So it's not like I have been at this forever, but I have never heard the expression "sold out" for a tournament. Lets hope this is not a high water mark but a new normal.
If you are in the region and missed out on this opportunity, remember Petawawa is coming up. If your are travelling to Toronto and fall in love with Canada's most famous city, keep in mind that the Masters tournament in Montreal, Canada's sexiest city, is not too far away.
But for this week at least all eyes are on Toronto _________________ John Cooke

lots of momentum for table hockey continuing... CBC Ottawa radio called me for a short interview yesterday, and (while I did not know about this one) this radio piece was just emailed to me by another table hockey fan who heard it.
The canadian championships had 120 people playing, making it the biggest Canadian table hockey tournament ever held... after the Wall Street Journal story made it out, other media sources seem to be feeding off of that and are looking into their own storylines to follow it up with.
Have a listen.. fun piece!
