Well just off the heels of the First Eastern Ontario Championships, I figured I'd wait to annouce the Munro BBQ event in Mississauga.

This year I'm taking May off, but I'm looking at holding the BBQ/ Munro get together in June.

Please let me know what weekend in June is good for the masses.
I'm capping it at 16 players, so please let me know ASAP your intent.

This years BBQ menu is Steak and onions on a kaiser with Sausages and salad. And a special suprise dish.

Let's get this bad boy going.

Dave
Again entry fee is $10.00

Remember, Montreal/Stiga is the first weekend in June.

Otherwise, I'd go to this. I've played Munro for maybe 30 minutes in the last 30 years but I love the metal gear action.

So.....
It seems this Munro Event has tweaked a few curious players out there...

So I had originally capped the participation to 16 players but due to the overwhelming response, I'm going to have to readjust and set my number to 24.
So, if you saw that the registration was closed and thought you didn't act fast enough to join in on the excitement of this Popular event. Let me know now if you want to join as I have 5-6 spots left.
The way this thing is mushrooming, you might want to act on it now!!!!!

Let me know.

Well, with less than a month to go, who would have thought that we would be nearly sold out in space for the 2nd annual Munro/BBQ event.
I have one (1) spot left to fill. I have 3 potential players vying for it, but who ever confirms this spot will be given it.

Good Day fellow participants, I'm going to layout some criteria for those who are interested.
This should help with any questions that have arisen.

First, we will be 24 strong.

This event WILL BE held outdoors weather permitting, screw that, I have a beatiful carport should mother nature be un cooperative.
The BBQ is what this event is all about. There will be burgers and steaks on a Kaiser. Pop, juice, water. & BYOB. I will have limited amount on hand. The special dish I wanted to prepare has turned out to be a flop so it won't be available.

Now to the TH portion of the event,
First, a shedule is drawn up. As you arrive you will draw a card out of a deck and placed in a division. There will be 3 divisions of 8.
You will play everyone in your division in the first round. The second round will consist of playing for playoff position against players of your own calibre. After the two rounds we will enjoy the BBQ before the playoffs begin.

I'm not telling you the playoff format until the event. But all series will be best of 3.

Now the Rules:
Very simple rules are in place for having fun and sportsmanship.
1)No board banging with the rods.
2)Dead spots behind the net and at the center ice line at the boards will result in a face-off at center ice.

REMEMBER SPORTSMANSHIP!

Face-offs are all at center ice. The puck will be placed at center both players will position their centerman pointing the tip at the puck. Each player will announce ready and the referee will say go. A false start will result in awarding possession to the non-offending player's winger of choice.

Any questions in regards to these guidelines feel free to ask.
( yes I'm aware I have told some of you different rules but after thinking about it, these are the rules I feel will work for this event).
All plays on the game are ago!
May the best player win!
Dave

With just over two weeks to go, the Munro/BBQ event is on schedule.
I'm looking forward to some great table hockey here.
From time to time I will post some highlights during the day, so stay tuned.

Tomorrow I order the steaks.

I'm looking forward to this, I hope everyone else is....

As you can see there is one spot available. The USA player that had reserved his spot has recinded due to other commitments.

Anyone wishing to join in on the fun and the famous BBQ.

Contact me at the above address.
This spot will not last long...

With 96 hrs to go the 2nd Annual Munro/BBQ event is on schedule.

The weatherman is predicting a BEAUTIFUL day. This event is being held outdoors, BELIEVE it or not I have an amazing carport in which to shield us from the sun and the rain.
The steaks are ordered and the burgs are on their way via Antonio Ferrara.
We had 24 confirmed but one player dropped out, we have a new spot opened. Contact me if you would like to join us for this historical event.

Players should arrive at least by 10:30am as the puck drops at 11:00am sharp.

I'll see all of you who have commited to this event on Saturday.
SD

And again Thanks to all of you who have chosen to support this event.

Well, as we draw another day closer, I'm putting final touches on the event.
Schedules are done up. The master Play-off board is set-up.

The trophies are ready.
The steaks get cut and picked up on Friday along with the rest of the odds and ends.

It's getting to be a fever pitch.

And Mark, I ain't SOFT..... There is just too much talent coming on Saturday to say that any one person is going to win.... I do like your optimism though...

ARE WE READY?

Hey, good luck to everyone playing today. May your RW-C plays be smooth and may the steaks be tasty.

We're pulling for Mr. Ron Marsik down here in Chicago.

We'll be playing some Munro tonight as part of John Medema's league, braving the heat. Mr. Marsik will not be there, so I know I'll be able to tally at least one win tonight. Smile

First time ever for me vs. Marsik on Munro. I'd be amazed if he lost a game. So quick, so precise, so liquid.

Come to think of it, first time against everyone on Munro. It's a real fun game, with plenty of room for creativity. Unfortunately I choked in round 1, but I don't mind so much leaving later rounds for true Munro players.

... SO WHO WON ANYWAY???

Wow what a great day, got to play Bobby Orr TH, made new friends and ate steak! What more could I ask for? I even enjoyed losing to a great player from Chicago - but not next year, then its his turn!

Ron Marsik over Steve Bernstein in finals... amazing day
Ron Marsik wins a Munro title 35 years after winning his last one! That is such a nice story, but Ronnie is a gem, and anyone who has ever faced him knows that "Slowhand" Marsik is one mean little sniper!
Great job, Ron!

Ugh that killer right wing to center of Marsik's. Confused

Never played him on Munro but have seen that right
to center many times on a Stiga and a few playing
him on Coleco.

Congratulations Ron for your victory! Steve for making
the finals and all who organized and played.

Way to go Ron!!! I would have liked to see that finals. I think of Ron as Cool Hand Luke; he keeps his cool and gets the job done... maintaining a gentleman like attitude the whole time.
