We were back at it tonight at a new venue...Strike n' Spare in Lockport, IL in a banquet room.
Good turnout. Eric Davis and John Barnes had to leave after the second round robin. They're road warriors, going two hours each way.
Ron Marsik certainly tuned up for the SNAC in Detroit. He took first. Jim Rzonca was second, and Eric K was third.

We're coming down to the end of the LTHL winter/spring season.
Five of six league dates have been completed following Saturday night's action. The competition is pretty strong these days. Jim Rzonca and Eric Davis are fighting it out for first. Eric Krol looks like a third seed and John Medema is fourth. Claire Rzonca and John Barnes (Davis' rapidly-improving cousin) also have qualified for the playoffs. But it's always open play, so if you're interested or in town, stop on by to get your Stiga on.
One more Stiga league date to go. Date TBD.
You can check out Week 5 results and overall standings here:

Hello all.
The Lemont Table Hockey League held its sixth and final 2012 regular season date on Saturday at Strike n' Spare II in Lockport, IL.
Jim Rzonca and Eric Davis were battling it out for the top spot. Jim held a 1-pt lead in the overall standings and a 1-game lead in the head-to-head tiebreaker. So up-and-comer Davis not only needed to finish ahead of Jim on the night's standings, but if it came down to a tie, he needed to have beaten Jim head to head more times than not.
As it unfolded, Rzonca was first, Davis second and Eric Krol beat John Medema 3-1 in a tiebreaker to take third on the night.
The playoffs are set for June 16:
#3 Eric Krol vs. #6 John Barnes
#4 John Medema vs. #5 Claire Rzonca
#1 Jim Rzonca and #2 Eric Davis will have a first-round bye before facing the winners in the semifinals.
You can catch up with the stats, both weekly and overall, on the LTHL web site. John Medema compiled them.

Playoffs start in a bit. Will try to update web here.
Claire Rzonca is a late scratch.
So John Medema vs. John Barnes in a play in.
Then winner faces Jim Rzonca.
Other semi is the Battle of the Erics: Davis vs. Krol.
Prediction, based on matchups and regular season results:
Rzonca over Davis in finals. |

Getting more excited about this Coleco event as the number of players rises. Looks like we've got as many as 11 who say they're coming. Just happy to be playing TH.
Your usual Chicago-area suspects and good guys like Joe Salazar and Jeff Thill and Eric Davis and John Medema, but also four or five new guys.
Actually, there has been some TH interest expressed from a few places around the nation following the holidays. We had a guy from Missouri, one from St. Paul and a guy at a school in Tampa sign up for USTHA membership after they found that web site. And I had a gentleman from Long Island inquire about a league there (sent him to the appropriate dudes).
Yesterday, I talked to a guy in Rochester, NY who runs Wiffle ball and youth baseball leagues and he's looking to start a Stiga league and maybe put on a tournament down the road. We discussed what's needed, how leagues and events work, some of the challenges and how much fun it is.
New interest in TH is one of those things that keeps ya going and re-energizes ya. You always suspect there are more players out there, but finding them often can be a frustrating needle in the haystack experience. Keeping web sites alive and getting out there to higher-profile exhibitions where there are likely to be hockey fans are key. |

Congrats to Jim Rzonca, who defeated John Medema 4-1 in the Best of 7 finals of the Coleco S-Slot tournament we had in Lemont yesterday.
We'll get some results up eventually, but for now...the live webcasts of the finals and third-place games are archived here:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/erickr88
They're in the right hand column.
(Note: I see they're kind of blurry at times. Still learning how it works. I suspect that a 3G phone connection that's not at maximum strength isn't enough to webcast. Probably need to hook into wifi if available. Also need to buy a tripod for my phone, if they make such a thing.) |

Hey TH folks...we'll be starting up the LTHL Stiga league on Sunday night (April 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lemont VFW Hall.
We're expecting at least eight players for Week 1. This year's league will be four weeks and a fifth date for the playoffs. We're looking at dividing into two groups based on experience level. The two groups would play most of their games against each other and then cross over for one round robin.
There's still room for more players if you're interested in coming out and playing on Sunday night. http://lemonttablehockey.com
I'll stream a couple of the games live on the web, assuming that the VFW has wifi. Don't know when I'll get a chance to do it, but the games will be recorded and up on Monday morning here:
