I recently bought a Coleco 5340 (actually 5341) from 1970 in an unopened box from the original purchaser off ebay. the box was very nice but a side had 2 long openings missing from the flap. I decided opening the flap the rest of the way would be an irreplaceable way to see just what a real 5340 looked like packed from the factory. Plus, this way I could wrap the parts in plastic and preserve them better, especially the paper parts.

I of course took a ton of pictures before and after I opened the flap.

The photos speak for themselves, but the unassembled scoreboard wrapped in paper and taped shut, and the stapled clear plastic bag with 14 unused teams in it... yikes...

Warren, you can play on one of the other 5340s!

This one is wrapped up and put away in a time capsule already!

So glad you didnt push me higher on the price! This one is a keeper.

I'm looking towards Game 2 vs the Rangers and I'm still not over Game 7. I've never seen a team turn the switch on and off at such extremes!

PS... would you have opened it if you won it?

That set went under the radar since the seller couldn't verify the contents. A little too risky for me to go any higher than I did. Your risk was rewarded as it was indeed a Gold-Mine!

I would have done exactly as you did, open it up and share it with the collectors in the community.

Great purchase Steve. Any person in the business of table hockey knows that the 5340 is one of the most well-built, durable, versatile, fun and collectible games still alive today. In one way, it's a shame (and painful) to leave every element of your purchase in its original packing but, on the other hand, to keep it museum quality like a perfect Ford Model T (or in my preference, a 1969 Dodge Charger), is well worth the long haul. You are now the proud owner of a very worthy table hockey game in which at least for now, time stands still. Take care buddy. Cool
