I inquired of the Montreal organizer...the tournament is a go...updated player list can be found here:

http://maitrescanadiensstiga.webs.com/joueurs_inscrits.html

And hey hey...if you are from the US of A, right now the exchange rate is still good for Americans to come to Montreal. The Google sez $1.20US to $1CAN.

Leaving the house now to go see game one of the Blackhawks and Ducks at Honda Center. This should be an epic series!

If it goes to game seven, which it might, I will be watching it in Montreal after the table hockey tournament!

From the tournament organizer, wily veteran Pierre Chastenais:

Only a week remains until registration ends for this year's Canadian Masters of Stiga Table Hockey to be played on saturday may 30th in Montreal. Right now 19 have let the organiser know they were interested in coming and some have confirmed their presence.

This year's event will not have Reg Stefaniszyn, Eric Desjardins, Alain Gamache and David Decrozant, as they have other activities that week-end.

Those interested in playing the Montreal event can head to:

There will still be plenty of high-end talent on display here.

The Montréal crew are under-served in the World Rankings by hundreds of spots simply because they don't/can't travel (e.g., Simon Harvey is about on par with Bruce Turner; Denis Maillé is about even with David Décrozant). The new Rivière-du-Loup tournament will help fix this anomaly, but in the meantime don't sleep on this tournament: the games happen on the table, not in some computer model in the cloud.

David Donar, Jordan Bulman and I are heading for Montreal after lunch on Friday. For David and me, this will be our fifth trip to the tournament, as we always have fun there. Each time, we've booked the YWCA hotel that sits right in the middle of downtown Montreal (for just $75 per night), surrounded by great restaurants, bars, adult entertainment and other sites just steps from the hotel.

Aside from great table hockey action on the Saturday, a vivacious city like Montreal never fails to deliver good times worthy of a 'mini-vacation'.

Auberge St Paul for cheap & cheerful, entirely Internet-driven checkin/checkout process.

Ladies and germs...a last-minute note from Pierre Chastenais:

Update from Montreal and the upcoming Canadian Stiga Masters:

A sudden surge of interest coming from southern Ontario was welcomed by the organizer, as the player count stands at 21, the organiser included! If you still want to take part in North America's oldest Stiga table hockey event and are close to Montreal you have until 11:59 tonight to secure your spot for saturday morning 10:30!

go to: ENREGISTREMENT MAÏTRES CANADIENS STIGA - MONTRÉAL 2015 CANADIAN STIGA MASTERS REGISTRATION before the clock hits midnight tonight to enter the Canadian Masters of Stiga Table Hockey!

Um, here's the link to whatever he just said: http://maitrescanadiensstiga.webs.com/2015_introduction.html

Per Dr. Rafferty:

Maille vs. Harvey in the finals.

Klump vs. Bernstein for 3rd in A.

B Group finals: F. Dube vs. Larivee

Harvey over Maille in 5 games in the finals. S. Bernstein took third.

My friend Pierre has attracted a European player to the Montreal tournament in early June. It's Janis Zalite of Ventspils LV.

He's a Latvian player about 20 years old currently ranked 524th in the world.

Pierre has updated his player list here: http://maitrescanadiensstiga.webs.com/

Pierre Chastenais' long-running Montreal tournament is back again this year. It's at the same location (Rose Bowl) but has a new name (Montreal Stiga Table Hockey Tournament). The event is part of the Stiga North American Tour and International Table Hockey Federation World Tour. Check out the web site here: http://hockeysurtablestigamontreal.webs.com/

The player list is here: http://hockeysurtablestigamontreal.webs.com/apps/blog/
