Pretty cool, I nabbed a couple of dozen negatives taken at the 1975 US Open in Chicago off ebay last week. Just got them and will be sending them off to be digitally processed into jpeg photos. A great piece of memorabilia to have from that time period. Can't wait to see them.

Those will be interesting to see.

Ron Marsik/Steve/others with knowledge...what's the story of that tournament? How many participants, who won, etc?

Was it Coleco or Munro? Which model of game? Was there a doubles portion as well?

Best,
Eric

from the set of 16 photos i see mike wheeker in the first pic, howard hyman of the brooklyn racoon club talking to canada's honorable statesman bob delaney in the third.

if memory serves, there may have been 175 singles and 55 doubles but ron marsik or someone else close to the organizers should confirm. i think the model munro was the 2210.

who won, i can't remember but it may have been the debut of bob chargo or maybe it was the year after that. winner might have been steve murri from detroit, just not sure.

(118 singles + 55 doubles might be where the 175 originated?)

There's an entry under 1975 "March 22..."

Few Notes; the newspaper.com entries, do work, just not always and when scrolling for the TH article, sometimes they are in parts, so continue to scroll/search for more there, sometimes.

The early Bob D. NY/Montreal entries include the telling of how the NY tournies expanded.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1972-May-Action-Sports-Hockey-magazine-Bobby-Hull-Chicago-Blackhawks-FAIR-cond-/160884909891?hash=item25757ce743:m:mrlpDzsBeqLcrUCva7VNwwA (see entry) 1972 "Action Sport Hockey..." ASHMs 1st TH article titled "Table Hockey Turns Pro" was a serious article about the earliest tournies (usually written in tongue and cheek).

Perhaps the most interesting years of tournie play in history 1974-75 are covered in this magazine, the magazines are not rare, no color and paying sellers for photo copies/scans would be a suggestion. Not all included TH and those that did sometimes said "Bonus section Table Hockey News" on the cover, some did not. Here are a few known to include TH.

(There is 1 with Phil Esposito on the cover, is this the 1?)
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1974-Mar-Action-Sports-Hockey-magazine-Phil-Esposito-Boston-Bruins-/360709277191?hash=item53fbf2c607:g:mZEAAOxy0QtR-S8I

(There is also 1 with Paul Henderson on the cover).

ASHM 1975 are known to cover the 1975 NY tournie, so there out there too.
