Warren Klotz has received two Stiga playoff games for the upcoming VTHC season. I was over their to give Warren a hand in setting up the games. We've got games, international player figures, suplaks, net deflectors & bottle cap techniques to be deployed for game stabilization.
We played a couple of best of seven series. The old rivalry is back and the games were well fought. While the offensive timing is not as sharp as it used to be the defensive thinking was! The positional play, found from only playing many games, saw each of us unable to score set play goals for stretches of time, leaving puck luck and neutral zone scrum type shots to find goal often. Here were the scores:
Series One:
Dom 3-2OT, Dom 4-2, Warren 4-2, Warren 5-4, Dom 3-2, Dom 6-1.
Series Two:
Warren 2-1, Warren 3-1, Dom 2-1, Dom 4-2, Warren 4-3, Warren 4-3.
Each with 6 wins and 6 losses. The timing will not take too long to recapture. Some nice goals were scored occasionally. (I think I popped in three fintars too.)
With Harvey Yee and Suke Dosanjh the return of Stiga table hockey to Vancouver will eventually crown a VTHC Cup Champ in November. Interested in playing? Go to www.vthc.net for more info. That includes one Eric Chesick who can add some terrific abilities on the Stiga game to our group. There are 2 spots open for the 2012 season.
The VTHC is set to begin real games in May thru November and a VTHC open house either on April 28 or 29. Warren will confirm the open house date and time asap.

Great day of prepping games and talking about old times. The best of all was playing again. We were both pretty rusty but showed signs of the old skill set coming back.
As Dom said, we are hosting an open house. More details

And I know we just play for fun, but if somebody wants to take home some hardware at the end of the year, this is what they are playing for

All winners names engraved onto name plates each year. 1)Name, 2)TH Game, 3)Year. A slice of TH Immortality. A best of seven VTHC Cup Finals series tradition started in 2003! Interestingly there's never been a 7 game Cup Finals series played. Could be in 2012! (It's due!)

Sure thing Paul. Might look into growing the Stiga player numbers in our city or region too. Maybe a group of 5 players and 2 Stiga games to be all that's needed for league divisional expansion. The idea being that each division finances their own games/regular season and then multi division meetings could occur. Plus a playoffs event to crown a champ. (That's for another day though. Maybe set up for 2013 if the players are out there to follow through and join our league.) I'll be sure to keep you informed of things this season in Van Paul.
