Hello all. Couple things regarding this year's US Open weekend:

*It'll be held on July 20-21 (Coleco on Friday and Stiga on Saturday). More hype later, obviously. A save the date e-mail went out last week.

http://lemonttablehockey.com/usopen

*We got a surprise early TV mention today that also included a mention of the Toronto tournament last month and some gentle ribbing of John Medema, the defending LTHL champion who I think we'll have to start calling Big Sexy now...

http://www.wgntv.com/videogallery/69667091/News/What%27s-Happening-4/30

The backstory for those who care: WGN-TV never called us, so we had no idea this was coming. Then this morning, Jim got an e-mail from a woman who said she heard the plug for our league and wanted to play.

This afternoon, Mr. Medema found the web link to the TV story and we were no longer scratching our heads.

Best I can tell, they must have seen that Wall Street Journal story from this month (the one that didn't have nearly enough Super Dave Wink

So then a TV producer looking to fill some time (the WGN morning show stretches on for like 4 hours) googles for some local examples and finds us. They use some of the blurry web photos, including one of Medema that's on the home page of the LTHL site. And they're able to fill 30 seconds or whatever it was.

Anyway, better to looked over than overlooked, as the saying goes. If the early mention yields one new player, hey, it cost us nothing and produced a small result.

"You know he's gettin' the chicks" lol Flex

Already we've had one email from a woman wanting to play. No telling how many will be lining up now. If this was aired during primetime I'd have to fight them off. Boxing lol

Actually, with that picture, I was hoping they would get the idea, " If he can do it, why not me?"

Hello there. Just a quick note asking you to Save the Date for this year's USOpen weekend. Quick details:

*The tournaments will be held July 19-20, 2013

*July 19 is the Coleco tournament. We've got some cool new SOHO 5380 games in the mix this time.

*July 20 is the Stiga tournament. Plenty of expertly prepped games.

*Location for both events this year is the Lemont VFW Hall. The Lithuanian Center was booked and the VFW hall can accommodate us nicely.

*You can sign up for the events. Registration is now open.

*We're working on updating the web site and player list: http://www.lemonttablehockey.com/usopen

If you have any other questions, please shoot us an e-mail. Just putting it on people's radar screens. It's less than three months away, but plenty of fine TH events to be held between now and the Open.

Hey Eric,

I have a SOHO COLECO 5380 game of my own. So for that Friday can I bring my game?

Thanks in advance!

Hey everybody. Just wanted to give ya a quick reminder about the big USOpen weekend that'll unfold less than 40 days from now. It's a Coleco event on Friday and a Stiga tournament on Saturday. It's a fun time.

We're already up to 20 players before we've even started recruiting efforts in earnest.

Good afternoon. It's hot and humid in Chicago and we're spending the day following which bar the Stanley Cup is at following last night's surprise, last-minute win.

Today, we updated the US Open web site player list. We're up to 25 for Stiga and have 8 or so listed for Coleco. Expect both lists to grow as players starting focusing in on the date. We're less than a month away now...it's all going July 19-20.

Plenty of room for you to join us. Check it out here: http://lemonttablehockey.com/usopen

Alright, a week from now the 2013 Coleco US Open will be in the record books and we'll be playing the 2013 Stiga US Open in suburban Chicago.

We've updated the player list and are starting to make final preparations. Jim's getting the games in his usual top-notch condition.

We've got plenty of room for more players in both events if you're thinking about coming out and joining us. It'll be a good time with lots of TH fun. We're always grateful to the players, both new and returning, who come out and join us in the middle of the summer to play table hockey.

Stay tuned this week for news about the live internet broadcast of the Coleco and Stiga playoffs. We may try to livestream the odd round robin game as well. The VFW free wifi is sometimes a little slow, but hopefully the new iPad holder I got for Father's Day, mounted to a tripod, will eliminate much of the shaky, Blair Witch Project-style video we had in Detroit this year. Experiment and learn.

Until then...more info here: http://lemonttablehockey.com/usopen

Hello. We're happy to announce that those playing in the Stiga US Open on Saturday (July 20) will take part in a free raffle* for a new Stiga table hockey game courtesy of stigaamerica.com. Thank you to Stiga America for donating the game.

Also believe Stiga America is providing some player team packs that we'll give away to participants.

*Those named Krol or Rzonca not eligible for raffle. Smile
